Stay Informed: Sign Up to Receive Lakota Communications

At Lakota, transparent and timely communication is critically important. Using a mass notification system, we deliver important school and district news and announcements primarily via email, but oftentimes by phone and text message as well. Please reference the detailed sections below to ensure you are receiving school-to-home Lakota communications that are relevant to you as a parent/guardian, staff member or community member.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The parent portal powered by School Messenger will no longer be used to update parent/guardian contact information and preferences after Sept. 10, 2021. As Lakota transitions from School Messenger to a new mass notification system for all school-to-home communications, all parent/guardian contact information submitted through the Back-to-School Gateway at the beginning of each school year and then displayed in your Home Access Center account will be our primary source of email addresses and phone numbers used to communicate school and district news. Please note that Lakota staff will continue to maintain their contact information via the School Messenger portal, as noted below. 

Parents & Guardians

Parents and guardians are automatically set up in Lakota's notification system to receive the communications most relevant to them, based on the school(s), grade level(s) and other attributes associated with their child(ren).

Your parent/guardian Home Access Center account is the primary data source for all contact information used to send school-to-home communications. The beginning of each school year is a great time to review the email address and phone numbers Lakota has on file. The changes you enter in Lakota's Registration Gateway will also update your HAC account. If you need to make updates to this information after Registration Gateway has closed, you can do so in your HAC account. Please contact your child's main office for HAC login assistance.

Communications will also be delivered in the preferred language, as indicated at the time of enrollment. This preference cannot be altered in HAC. Please contact your child's main office to request a change.

** If you wish to sign up for general, community-facing communications outside of your immediate school associations, you may create another account through our self sign-up portal (see instructions at right).

IMPORTANT NOTE:
As Lakota transitions from School Messenger to a new notification system, the parent portal powered by School Messenger will no longer be used to update contact information and preferences. Please review and update your contact information in Registration Gateway or HAC by Sept. 10, 2021.

Staff Members

If you are a current employee with a valid Lakota email address, please log into SchoolMessenger to review or add email addresses and phone numbers at which you receive staff-related school and district communications.  
  1. Visit the SchoolMessenger portal

  2. For first-time users, click on Sign Up to set up your account. For returning users, click on Sign In.


  3. For your username, you must use your Lakota email address to access your staff account. Create and confirm a new password.

  4. When logging in for the first time, click on the confirmation link sent to your registered email to activate your account. 

  5. On your first login, a pop-up screen will display the numbers pre-loaded into your account from our databases. Specify for each how you wish to be contacted. 

  6. Select Preferences from the dropdown to specify if you wish to be emailed, called and/or texted for emergencies, weather-related notifications and/or general district/school news. You can also add phone numbers and emails and see the buildings to which you are automatically subscribed, based on your assignments.

 

** Location associations cannot be altered. If you wish to sign up for general, community-facing communications outside of your immediate school associations, you may create another account through our self sign-up portal (see instructions at right).

Community Members

We want you to stay connected to our entire Lakota community.

If you are not a Lakota staff member or the parent/guardian of a current student, please log into our self-sign-up portal to quickly subscribe to district news, weather-related notifications or bid opportunity e-alerts for businesses.  
  1. Visit our community self-sign-up  portal.

  2. Click on First time user, Sign Up Now to create a new account. Provide the requested information and agree to the terms of service.

  3. Click on the confirmation link sent to your registered email to activate your account and log in for the first time.

  4. On your first login, click on Contact Info, where you can add one additional email and phone numbers to receive phone calls and/or text messages.

  5. Under Interests, specify if you wish to be contacted for weather-related notifications, surveys and/or general district/school news.

  6. Identify your Lakota Connection and Business Type if you are a business owner and wish to receive notifications about bid opportunities.

  7. To receive School News, select the intended school(s).

Business E-Alerts

As a service to our local business community, this includes an opportunity to become part of our growing list of potential business partners. Depending on your business's service type, you'll have the opportunity to select one or more of the sub-categories listed below "Bid Opportunities." By signing up in this way, we'll include your business on any e-mails related to new bid opportunities in your service area at Lakota.
