About Lakota's District Parent Council

Two representatives from each of Lakota’s four early childhood schools, ten elementary schools, four junior high schools, and two high schools (plus one more representative from each freshman campus), the superintendent, the assistant superintendent, the director of Media & Community Relations, designated school board members, and other members at-large comprise the roster for the Lakota District Parent Council (DPC).

DPC members meet with district leaders on a regular basis to have an open dialogue, serve as a link between their schools and parent groups, share concerns of parents from their school communities, and communicate and promote the activities happening at their school.

Participation in bi-monthly meetings is limited to members of the Council, but DPC meeting minutes are available for anyone to review. Contact your building's DPC rep to obtain a copy of the bi-monthly minutes. DPC meets the second Wednesday of every other month, September through April. In the non-meeting months, email is used to maintain open lines of communication.

If you have questions about DPC, contact your school's parent organization or DPC President, Lisa Phair. Click here to view to the DPC By-Laws.

Barb Bossu Volunteer Spirit Award

Every year, the DPC helps Lakota honor its most dedicated volunteers as recipients of the esteemed Barb Bossu Volunteer Spirit Award. Honoring a volunteer at the district level and from each of Lakota’s 22 schools, the award commemorates a former parent volunteer and Union Elementary PTA president, Barb Bossu.

The award was established in 1990 to commemorate Barb’s very special dedication to public education. The DPC determines the district winner and each building determines its own school recipient, as nominated by members of the school community. All honorees are recognized at a district-wide ceremony near the end of the school year.
