    The Family Metals Workshop recently held at Lakota East was a first for the district. Parents and students took a two-week class where they worked side-by-side to create keepsake ornaments to take home with them. Before designing their art pieces, parents and students were able to enjoy dinner together.

    The goal of Lakota’s Parent/Family Engagement and Community Outreach efforts is to reach every part of the district. A recent “Meet the Families” Night brought 150 families and Lakota staff together to talk, enjoy a meal and share ideas on topics like building relationships and literacy. Students even got to select new books to take home with them.

    District, Six Schools Receive ODE's Momentum Award

    Lakota Local Schools, including six individual schools within the district, has received the Ohio Department of Education’s Momentum Award for 2017. This annual recognition is given to districts or schools that have received A’s on all Value-Added measures on the state report card. In addition, winners of the award must also have at least two Value-Added subgroups of students, including gifted, lowest 20% in achievement and students with disabilities.

    Emotions were high as Adena Elementary closed out its Veterans Day program Nov. 10 with nearly 700 students saluting the more than 80 veterans joining them in the school cafeteria that morning.

    IKEA Gives Lakota West Media Center $11K Makeover

    The Lakota West High School community, in partnership with IKEA West Chester, is celebrating a completely refurbished space inside its media center. The global retailer’s in-kind donation of more than $11,000 in mostly furniture, and some lighting and other decorative items, has transformed the space into a more contemporary learning environment for all students.
